Vijay Govind (Vijay Deverakonda), a young college lecturer who dreams of marriage falls for Geetha (Rashmika Mandanna), a level-headed woman who’s wary of strangers and isn’t easy to convince. While things seem to travel smoothly, Vijay makes a terrible mistake which not only derails any hope for his romance , but also potential repercussions together with his family. As easy because it sounds to form a rom-com, we’ve often seen filmmakers attempt to fail when it involves successfully executing a ‘breezy entertainer’ in Tollywood. Director Parasuram, however, gets it right with Geetha Govindam. His casting is spot on, writing impressive and pace of the film is simply about right. With an adorable looking lead pair and a few great music, Geetha Govindam is thoroughly entertaining. We are introduced to Vijay Govind (Vijay Deverakonda), a university lecturer, who dreams of getting married and settling down with a lady . He’s a typical youngster who likes to drink and goof around together with his buddies but the sole thing on his mind is marriage. While on his quest to seek out a woman , he runs into Geetha (Rashmika Mandanna). He likes her immediately, but she remains cold and distant as they are going on a bus journey together. As soon as she starts warming up to him, he makes an enormous mistake, that not only derails his entire romance but could also potentially impact his relationship together with his father (Naga Babu) and shortly to be brother-in-law (Subba Raju).

Geetha is convinced that Vijay may be a compulsive flirt and an irresponsible youngster, while he calls ‘Madam’ and keeps insisting that he’s a sincere guy. Whenever he comes on the brink of convincing her, something or the opposite goes wrong. They continue during this vein to the purpose that it gets repetitive, but the way the actors pull it off makes it worthwhile. The dialogues work and therefore the humour is superb , keeping you enthusiastic just once you begin to lose interest. Gopi Sundar is in top form and therefore the music stays with you throughout , enhancing your viewing experience. At times, though, the film slows down and looks like it’s heading nowhere, especially within the post-interval sequences. The sudden plot twists within the last half are unconvincing, and while it doesn’t necessarily spoil the film, you couldn’t help but wonder if it could’ve been better. These are, however, minor aberrations in an otherwise well-made film. Back during a romantic avatar after Pelli Choopulu , Vijay Deverakonda owns this film. He’s charming as ever and seamlessly fits the part as Vijay Govind. Rashmika too sparkles in her debut and therefore the scenes between the 2 is what makes Geetha Govindam so likeable. Rahul Ramakrishna isn’t as funny as he normally is, while Vennela Kishore steals the show with a hilarious late entrance. Geetha Govindam has some good humor , fine music and an exquisite lead pair. But more importantly, it's a story, that despite its predictable nature, keeps the audience engaged and entertained.
